Reducing the Risk of Recurring Preterm Birth, the NC 17P Project

Research project

Description

Research has shown that preterm birth (PTB) is reduced by the use of alpha 17 hydroxprogesterone caproate (17P) among high risk pregnant women, especially low income women. The NC 17P Project focuses on increasing access to this medication for pregnant women in North Carolina who meet the clinical criteria for its use. Increasing access includes providing technical assistance to health care providers across the state about 17P, providing information to eligible women, facilitating system issues around distribution and incorporation into practice, and evaluating the success of the project.
