Description

UNC Horizons is a gender-specific substance abuse treatment program within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the UNC School of Medicine. Horizons provides outpatient and residential treatment to women who are pregnant and/or parenting young children. This proposed project requests funding from the Orange County Partnership for Young Children (OCPYC) to support three program components:
1. Providing access to evidenced-based child-parent psychotherapy (CPP) for mothers and their children birth to five identified with attachment issues;
2. Initiating the evidenced-based Circle of Security group parenting education for clients at Horizons;
3. Continuing the coordination of assessments and early intervention services, increasing communication between other staff/parents/therapists and Sunrise Corner, and providing transition planning and referrals for children who need continued services after leaving UNC Horizons.
